In my 14 years of working in the dieting industry I would have to say the most popular reason why most people come unstuck would have to be cravings.
The toughest part about cravings is that once we give in to it, we go into a HUGE self defeatist mode and proceed to beat ourselves up with a big stick for falling off the wagon. This is SO unfair because cravings are so much more than you ”not being able to say no”
So let’s just put it into perspective a little.
I’m not talking about those times when you are out and about and someone offers you something that looks delish and you tell yourself it’s ok and I will just that have one little bit.
(THAT is willpower and YES you can say no to that)
I’m talking about cravings that are screaming in your ears and the voices get so loud they are almost demanding that you eat it or consume it right now or we will never let you sleep again…
There is a difference and I want to explain it for you..
Those really overpowering cravings come from micro-biomes that live in your entire body.
AND sadly they are generally the not so good ones.
Remember we need a balance of good and bad bacteria in our body to maintain equilibrium however once we get too many of the sugar feasting bad guys they become entirely overpowering and demanding to say the least.
There are specific strains for specific food types but none of that is necessary knowledge to know how it works, the general gist of it is that once your system (which starts in the gut) is over run by these little critters they will become totally demanding of the food that feeds them.
WHICH is (yep you guessed it) sugar. AND by that stage they don’t care what form of sugar it is, whether its deemed as healthy or not sugar will automatically become food for the nasties which will enable them to grow and grow and then spread into other areas of the body with a moss like presence which clogs up and slows up all the other systems in your body. (so ya not good)
Science has recently made the discovery about this process that the intelligence of these microbes is so amazing they can send signals into the brain that demands sugar.. (Also known as a Craving )..
Ahhh so you see here is that connection you need to recognize to help you with your cravings.
The thought process or signal you keep getting that tells you Sugary food is good for you right now in this moment is actually the bad critters in your gut and other overgrown affected areas screaming at you for more food.
The longer you can put it off the quieter it will get because they will eventually die off.
Of course it’s important that you supplement with good guys like a Probiotic and helpful anti-fungal treatments like eating a tablespoon of coconut oil before bed to help with the die off.
