Charlie’s Program has given me my confidence to glow and be proud of me and my body from the inside to the outside.
This is what I have learned:
I eat when bored.
I think I have cravings when actually I don’t.
I thought food would make me feel better.

I was experiencing uncomfortable symptoms, which I believed were related to perimenopause. I was not overweight or unfit (though I was probably around 2kg above the weight I was when I fell pregnant with our third child a few years ago) but I did exhibit all the usual symptoms of peri menopause – hot flushes, sudden mood swings, unexplained ‘down’ times, loss of my period, as well as some more uncomfortable and personal physical symptoms.
DURING the program
Within a week to 10 days of starting the elimination phase of the program, my hormonal symptoms had improved a great deal – hot flushes had vanished, moods were pretty much back to normal, periods arrived during second week of this phase. The eating plan is initially really restrictive but, because I am a vegetarian, I was pretty happy due the inclusion of lots of green veggies, onion and tomatoes and actually enjoyed the food regime the program dictated. I continued my normal exercise (moderate – running, walking and/or swimming four to five days a week) and didn’t really experience any noticeable energy deficit.
After three weeks of maintenance, I discovered what I probably already knew to be true – there are really no natural, unprocessed, whole foods that impact on my weight or my symptoms. The culprits for me are sugar and alcohol. I do not believe life is about depriving yourself of the things you love, and I don’t think this program preaches that. But if you understand which foods work for you, you can make informed decisions about whether you want to include them in your diet and, if so, how and when. I’m sure I will eat chocolate and birthday cake and drink wine again from time to time. Interestingly, I don’t crave any of those things at the moment and, importantly, believe there are alternatives available for a lot of the foods many of us find aren’t great for us.
Overall, the program helped me to remind myself of what is the best way of eating for ME. I feel my hormones are much more in balance and that I have some tools up my sleeve should they go wonky again. I found Dr Sherrill Sellman’s book Hormone Heresy to be a great read and recommend it to any woman experiencing hormonal symptoms.
It took me a while to feel comfortable with the idea of using the drops (largely because of my mixed experiences with homeopathy in the past). I would not have attempted the program without the support of someone like Charlie, nor would I have engaged the services of anyone who wasn’t willing and able to satisfactorily answer my questions about the program. Charlie was not pushy at all during our first chat and was very objective in terms of whether the program would suit my needs.
While I definitely understand the benefits of getting to know which foods, if any, cause sudden or substantial weight gain, I also feel that the number on the scales is irrelevant unless you also take note of any other resulting changes in your body, and this is something Charlie emphasized.
For me, the program was definitely not about weight loss – it was about feeling better, which I do.

For the past 5 or so years I had been steadily gaining weight and feeling more and more sluggish and felt there was something not quite right with my health.
I was also getting headaches/migraines that would have me out of action for a few days every month.
After visits to my GP and various tests showing nothing in particular and exercising 5 days per week and getting no results I was resigned to believing this was it. I would have to accept and learn to live with what I put down to being 40 plus.
Discovering Charlie and the program has been my saviour. Initially, I was concerned about my ability to commit, but after the alarming results of my saliva cortisol test I saw a means to an end. It helped me become more determined to reset my hormones, regain my health and as an added bonus lose the weight I had been struggling to shift.
DURING THE PROGRAM
The first 5 days of the protocol were challenging, the change of habits and detox was the low point but it is amazing how fast the time passes and once I became settled into a routine and stuck to it, the 21 days of very low calories flew by pretty quickly. Of course the scales showing weight loss each day was a great motivator!
Each phase of the protocol offers different challenges and I have learned that with each challenge I know a little more about my body, how it responds to food, and how I treat it. For the first time in many, many years I am taking time to be kind to myself and my body listening to the cues my body is giving and responding accordingly.
AFTER THE PROGRAM
Since completing the maintenance phase I am feeling so much more energized, sleep better, wake refreshed and ready to go, I am happier and more enthusiastic. I am now confident that I can continue on the healthy path I started to follow, and if I ‘stray’ feel I have the tools to re-adjust. Charlie has always been available to offer plenty of support, resources and direction and it has kept me on track throughout the program and provided me with the tools and confidence to look after my body. I have never felt that I was doing this on my own. Completing the program is the best choice I ever made. The Program allows you to remove any nasties from your diet that can be causing you to feel ill, exhausted, brain fogged, and to keep weight on. The maintenance period then allows you time to find what was making you feel ill/bloated/horrible in the first place. Once you discover this, there is no looking back.
Along with the professional, friendly guidance of Charlie, this Program, if followed correctly, can change your whole lifestyle/outlook on food in a short period of time. Just wanted to say thank you.
In January when I went to see you I was at a real low, feeling pathetic about being pathetic and sitting on a lifetime high weight wise. This morning I jumped on and was a whole 9 kilos lighter which I celebrated with a dance around the room for a few minutes.
I still have a while to go and it has taken me 6 months with stops and starts along the way to get to this point. However, I know in my deepest of deepest, the place where you really tell the truth, that I will make it – there is no doubt – and just as importantly I am doing this because I love my body, not because I hate it.
I enjoy eating the “good” stuff because I know that it is better for my body, not because I hate how my body looks.

The questions you posed in one of your information flyers really resonated with me. Are you lacking in energy? sleeping poorly? bloated? Can’t lose weight despite your best efforts?
I was experiencing all of the above. As a perimenopausal woman of 50, I was almost ready to accept this as the ‘middle-aged spread’ thing.
Too depressing – I was NOT ready for that!

Your program did seem a bit radical but I was at the point of either giving in to being a little dumpling or trying anything! The program was actually far easier to stick to than I imagined. Your advice about carving out 3 weeks from you social calendar was good. I saw it as a gift to myself. It was a very small price to pay to get the results and to actually ‘get my body back’. I have lost the 6kg that had be-devilled me for the last 5-6 years and I feel encouraged and capable of keeping it off. I am confident that I have reset my metabolism and reconnected both physically and intellectually about my food choices and what my body is telling me – including I’m full.
The added bonus is that I have been spared the expense of having to go clothes shopping – I now fit back into all the lovely clothes that had worked their way to the far reaches of my wardrobe. So in effect the program was cost-neutral or even better. I have recommended the program to friends and colleagues but I understand that they have to be ready within themselves to make the commitment. It was certainly worth it for me.

We all know what we should be doing with diet and exercise.
But I just can’t get myself to do what I need to do.. That was me before meeting Charlie Hunter.
